Fishing - surfcasting, rock fishing and diving are popular along the wild southern bays coastline, with local rivers and lake holding trout and course fishing. Diving also available.
Game Birds - in season the district's large geese, swan and duck population can be accessed.
Kaitorete Spit - New Zealand's second longest sand spit with its own unique flora and fauna and Maori history
